COVID hits Indian team in England; at least one player tests positive Last Updated : 15 Jul 2021 08:56:00 AM IST One of the 23 Indian cricketers in the ongoing tour of England has tested positive for COVID-19 during the 20-day break and will not be travelling with the team to Durham on Thursday.
The news comes in the wake of BCCI secretary Jay Shah recently sending an e-mail to the Indian contingent in the United Kingdom warning it about the rising cases of COVID-19."Yes, one of the players has tested positive for coronavirus although he is largely asymptomatic currently. He is in quarantine at an acquaintance's place and won't be travelling with the Indian team to Durham on Thursday," a BCCI official told a source,The Indian player who tested positive will not be travelling to Durham, where the Indian team is scheduled to assemble on Thursday afternoon and prepare for a three-day warm-up game against a County Championship XI team from July 20.If there are multiple cases of infection in the side, it will be known by the headcount of players who show up for the camp.The COVID-19 cases have been on the rise since in the UK of late.
