IPL has been nothing short of amazing: Dale Steyn apologises after inviting criticism on PSL vs IPL comparison Last Updated : 03 Mar 2021 02:11:29 PM IST Legendary South African pacer Dale Steyn Veteran South African pacer Dale Steyn, who had withdrawn his name from IPL 2021, made a huge statement as he said that T20 leagues like Pakistan Super League (PSL) and Lankan Premier League (LPL) were more rewarding as compared to the IPL where he said cricket takes a backseat and the focus is more on the price tag of a cricketer.
“I wanted some time off. I found that playing in these other leagues was slightly more rewarding as a player. I think when you go to IPL, there are such big squads and so many big names and so much emphasis on maybe the amount of money players earn and everything like that, so sometimes, somewhere down the line, cricket gets forgotten,” Steyn was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan. After being criticised from all corners of India, Steyn took to Twitter to issue an apology where he said the IPL was amazing in his career and he issued an apology for his remarks which had upset many fans around India."IPL has been nothing short of amazing in my career, as well as other players too. My words were never intended to be degrading, insulting, or comparing of any leagues. Social media and words out of context can often do that. My apologies if this has upset anyone. Much love," he tweeted.IPL has been nothing short of amazing in my career, as well as other players too.
