'Don't create unnecessary row over Tahir Hussain' Last Updated : 04 Mar 2020 03:35:21 PM IST Tahir Hussain (file photo) Working Delhi Police Commissioner S.N. Shrivastava on Wednesday said that the force was on top of the situation in the national capital and urged the people not to create unnecessary controversy over Delhi Police "rescuing" suspended AAP councillor Tahir Hussain.
His remarks came after he along with Special CP Satish Golcha briefed Union Home Minister Amit Shah about the current situation in the capital. The meeting of the police officers with Shah at his chamber in Parliament was also attended by Union Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla that lasted about 15 minutes.Speaking to media, Shrivatsava said, "The situation in Delhi is under control and normal. We are on top of the situation."When asked further about the meeting called by the Home Minister, the Commissioner replied that it was a "normal" meeting.About the controversy over the Delhi Police's denial about rescuing Tahir Hussain from his home during the violence, he said, "There is no confusion and we have clarified about it yesterday (Tuesday).""There is absolutely no confusion. Delhi Police explained on this and everything is mentioned on the tweet," he said, adding, "we should not create unnecessary controversy over it."Northeast Deputy Commissioner of Police from its official twitter handle on Tuesday said, "A section of media has reported that Tahir Hussain was rescued by Delhi Police. The facts are that on intervening night of Feb 24/25, some public men had informed the police deployed at Chand Bagh that Tahir Hussain was trapped as crowd had surrounded his house."The police verified the same to be incorrect and Tahir Hussain was found available in his house. It is further added that he was named as accused on 26/2/2010 upon recovery of the body of Ankit Sharma (Intelligence Bureau staffer). His house was searched and he was absconding."The Delhi Police retweeted the Northeast DCP's tweets from its official twitter handle.Shrivastava was summoned by the Home Ministry. Shah wanted an update about law and order situation in northeast Delhi which faced the deadly violence from February 23 to February 25 that left 46 people dead and over 200 injured.IANS New Delhi For Latest Updates Please-
