'Dadagiri' wouldn't work, SC warns BJP councillor Last Updated : 31 Jul 2018 02:25:24 AM IST Supreme Court The Supreme Court on Monday warned BJP councillor Mukesh Suryan against issuing threats to officials carrying out sealing unauthorised and illegal construction in Delhi, saying "dadagiri" would not work.
"This kind of dadagiri' (bullying) would not work. He (Suryan) cannot say like this that he is fighting for the people," Justice Madan B. Lokur and Justice Deepak Gupta told Suryan, chairman of the wards committee of the Najafgarh zone. Suryan was present in the court.
The court said the affidavit filed by Suryan was "not at all satisfactory" since he was tendering an unconditional apology on one hand and trying to justify his action on the other.
Suryan apologized to the court, with his counsel saying he would file a fresh affidavit, tendering an unconditional apology within three days.
The court was hearing a plea of the Forum of MCD Engineers, which has alleged that Suryan had threatened the officials when they had gone to seal unauthorised constructions. The court also ordered that Vishvender Singh, who was Najafgarh zone Deputy Commissioner and was transferred within hours allegedly at Suryan's instance, be restored to the position of the Deputy Commissioner (Najafgarh zone) within 24 hours and that he will complete his normal tenure in that position.
The court posted the matter for August 6.IANS For Latest Updates Please-
