The police said Nitin Monocha, 40, caretaker of the snooker parlour, Sandeep, 38, Maninder Singh, 37, Tarun Batra, 36, Manoj Juneja, 33, Hemraj, 27, Ujjwal Mehtani, 26, Jatin Mehtani, 26 and Tarun Kumar, 24, all residents of Geeta Colony and Krishna Nagar in East Delhi, were found gambling in the snooker parlour.
"Police raided the snooker parlour after a Police Constable, Pawan, was sent as a decoy customer to check whether gambling was being entertained at the parlour. When he was asked by Monocha to pay a minimum amount of Rs 120 for playing snooker and Rs 500 for betting, a raid was conducted," Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Nupur Prasad said.
"Monocha told police that he worked for Manish Chhabra, owner of the snooker parlour and gambling den. Chhabra who is on the run, along with Monocha used to charge Rs 500 for gambling and 10 per cent commission from the person who won the bet," Prasad said.
The other eight persons arrested during the raid were gambling at the snooker parlour.
The police seized Rs 25 lakh from Monocha's possession.
