The Supreme Court on Wednesday allowed former Mumbai police commissioner Param Bir Singh to withdraw his plea seeking direction for a "impartial and fair" CBI probe into alleged corrupt malpractices of Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh.Param Bir Singh's plea demanded a CBI probe against Anil Deshmukh for allegedly running a 'money collection scheme' throughthe police department. The plea also sought demanded Anil Deshmukh's transfer to a low-profile post.Param Bir Singh was shunted in connection with the Ambani bomb scare probe and the arrest of police officer Sachin Vaze.
