Noida housing society sealed after new COVID-19 case Last Updated : 21 Mar 2020 12:35:14 PM IST A group housing society in Noida Sector 74 on Saturday was sealed as one of the residents tested positive for COVID-19 infection.
Gautam Buddha Nagar District Magistrate B.N. Singh in a letter addressed to Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary and other officials, passed an order for sealing the housing society.
"Under Epidemic Diseases Act-1897 section 2, the Supertech Capetown Group Housing sector 74 Noida to be sealed with immediate effect," it said.
The letter said that there was one COVID-19 positive person living in society. Therefore in order to break the chain of transmission of the disease the entire compound of the housing society was needed to be locked down on a temporary basis with effect from March 21, 10 a.m. to March 23, 7 a.m.
The order issued by Singh also stated that entry and exit of all gates of the society will remain sealed and all the residents of the building will stay inside their residence for the stipulated time period mentioned in the order unless unavoidable circumstances.
Those who violate the norms will be charged under Section 188 (Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
