The central government on Wednesday approved Rs 305.14 crore assistance for Manipur, Mizoram and Kerala that faced floods, landslides and drought in 2016, causing heavy loss of property in these states, an official said.
The decision was taken at a high-level committee meeting for central assistance, chaired by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh.
In the wake of floods and landslides, the committee decided to allocate Rs 130.65 crore to Manipur and Rs 49.02 crore to Mizoram. The committee approved an allocation of Rs 125.47 crore for drought-hit Kerala that suffered damage to Rabi and Kharif crops.
The amount approved for Manipur will be allocated from the National Disaster Relief Fund (NDRF).
Mizoram will receive Rs 42.77 crore from the NDRF and Rs 6.25 crore from the National Rural Drinking Water Programme (NRDWP) fund. The amount approved for Kerala includes Rs 112.05 crore from the NDRF and Rs 13.42 crore from the NRDWP.
