Terrorists while targetting did not make out that theplane was not of Russian President Putin as th contours of the aircrafts, linear dimensions are very similar and as the aplne was flying at aan altitue of 30,000 ft it was very difficult to identify the colour.US Intelligence detected a surface-to-air missile launch and tracked the explosion of the plane, confirming that MH-17 was in fact shot down.
