On the fifth day of the second Test, skipper M S Dhoni did what he should have. England had enough wickets left. Joe Root with Moeen Ali were soldiering on, chaperoning them home. With the England score reading 173 for 5 and the last ball before lunch about to be delivered, Dhoni tightened the noose around Ali’s throat. The bowler was given a packed field on the leg side, and asked to have a go at Ali with a brutal short-pitched one.
