After electing to bat, India lost both the openers cheaply but a determined Virat Kohli denied South African pacers to take complete advantage. After Sachin Tendulkar's retirement, Kohli came in to bat at No.4 and justified skipper MS Dhoni's to fill into the legend's shoe. Kohli showed his class with the bat and didn't fell in the trap of Short-pitch and bouncers. He waited long to find a weak delivery to score on it. He also showed that Steyn and Morkel could be toothless if we choose right ball to score. However, he got ably support from Chjeteshwar Pujara and young Ajinkya Rahane. At the end of the day-1, Rahane 43 and skipper Dhoni 17 were in the middle.
