Nirbhaya gangrape case at a glance

Trial of five adult accused and one juvenile continues in 2013. In March 2013 one of the accused Ram Singh commits suicide in Tihar jail. In August Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) convicts the minor for gangrape and murder and awards three-year term at probation home. A Delhi court convicts Mukesh, Vinay, Akshay, Pawan of 13 offences including gangrape, unnatural offence and murder of the girl and attempt to murder her male friend. The court also awards death to all four convicts. Later, in September Delhi High Court begins hearing the convicts' death sentence reference sent to it by the trial court.
