KRISHNA TIRATH: The candidate from reserved Northwest constituency in Delhi Krishna Tirath had won Lok Sabha polls in 2004 and 2009 from here. In 2004 she defeated BJP's Anita Arya and in 2009 she had defeated BJP’s Meera Kanwaria. This time Krishna Tirath faces challenge from BJP Dalit leader Udit Raj. It is speculated that AAP will be fielding former Delhi minister Rakhi Birla from this seat. Currently she is minister for women and child development in the Manmohan Singh cabinet. She has held several portfolios in the past. Tirath was minister for social welfare, women and child development, and labour and employment in the 1998-2003 Sheila Dikshit government. She also held charge as deputy speaker in 2003.
