A study has found "large-scale and indiscriminate" use of antibiotics in poultry industry. It says that chicken being sold in Delhi and NCR region contains several antibiotic residues. The study says that this might be a major cause of growing antibiotic resistance in Indians. the study has been conducted by the Centre for Science and Environment (CSE). CSE sought implementation of a comprehensive set of regulations including banning of antibiotic use as growth promoters in the poultry industry as it puts lives of people at risk.
