Urban population up by 3.3 pc

India's population in urban areas has risen by 3.30 per cent between 2001 to 2011. Maximum urban growth has mainly been seen in southern states and union territories of the country, according to data released by the government on Wednesday, July 16. Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu in a written reply informed the Lok Sabha that people living in urban areas have increased by over nine crore during this period.
