- BMW launches 'X6' at Rs 1.15 cr

The group has three brands in the country -- BMW, Mini and Rolls-Royce apart from the BMW brand of high end motorbikes. Since its entry into the country as fully-owned subsidiary of the German parent, the company has invested Rs 490 crore into the country including the assembly line in Chennai which has an installed capacity of 14,000 units, a parts warehouse in Mumbai, a training centre in Gurgaon and 39 dealer networks across major cities apart from 12 BMW Premium Selection, which is its used car business and the BMW Finance. The Chennai plant rolls out 8 models -- 1 Series, the 3 Series, the 3 Series Gran Turismo, the 5 Series, the 7 Series, the X1, the X3 and the X5, while of its CBUs include the 6 Series Gran Coupe, ActiveHybrid 7, the X6, the Z4, the M3 Sedan, the M4 Coupe, the M5 Sedan, the M6 Gran Coupe, the 6 Series Individual and the 7 Series Individual. BMW's international purchasing office in Gurgaon identifies and assesses potential suppliers for BMW, Mini, and BMW Motorcycles. Currently the company sources components which include engines from Force Motors and gear-boxes and wiring among others from local eight component manufacturers.
